Fishtechy Citizen Science
Fishtechy Citizen Science is a citizen science initiative offered as an option to Fishtechy users that empowers recreational anglers to collect non-invasive data on fish populations, measurements, and other habitat information using the Proof Ball and share that data with vetted science organizations who are working to preserve our aquatic ecosystems. This innovative approach bridges the gap between anglers and fisheries departments, enhancing fishery management by making far more catch data available to science than ever before.

How It Works:
First, anglers use the Proof Ball to record a fish's species and size with minimal fish handling.
Then, anglers can opt-in to share their catch data anonymously with vetted fisheries management organizations that are working to protect aquatic ecosystems.
Fisheries management organizations then have access to far more citizen science data than ever before, allowing them to make more informed decisions about how to protect our fisheries.
- This catch data is NEVER shared without the user's express consent, which can be removed at any time.
- When anglers opt-in to the Fishtechy Citizen Science program, their name and specific catch location are NEVER shared with the catch data that goes to vetted science organizations.
- No other Fishtechy users see any of your donated data, it is only shared with science organizations.

Long-Term Impact
The program strengthens fisheries management by increasing data accuracy and volume, creating a sustainable partnership between anglers and conservation efforts.
By transforming anglers into citizen scientists, Fishtechy ensures healthier fish populations, better ecosystem management, and a future of sustainable fishing practices.
